Getting started
JTF OS is free to use. No credit card. No sales call.
You will sign up, confirm your email, set up your workspace, then add your team.
1. Sign up
Open the JTF OS sign-up page and fill in the form.
| Box | What to put in |
|---|---|
| Work email | An address you can open right now. The confirmation link goes here. |
| Password | At least 12 characters |
| Company name | Your business name. Your workspace takes its name from this. |
That is all the form asks for. Your own name, your trades and your markets come later, on the setup page (step 3).
Tick the box that says you agree to the Terms and the Privacy Policy. You cannot go on without it. Both pages open in a new tab, and each one shows the date it was last updated and its version. The version you agree to is kept with your account.
There is one more box, and it is optional. It lets JTF Software Solutions contact you about upgrades and add-ons. It starts unticked. Leave it that way if you do not want those emails. You can turn it off later under Account. The tick only counts if you finish sign-up in the same browser you used to fill in the form (see step 2).
You may see a quick "are you a person" check. If it fails you will see "Verification did not succeed. Try again." Then send the form.
Good to know
- One email address makes one workspace.
- Your company name can match another company's. If the name is already in use, your workspace address gets a short code added to the end. You do not have to pick a new name.
- If the name has no letters or numbers in it, you will see "Choose a different company name."
- Too many tries in a short time shows "Please try again later."
- For safety, the "Check your email" page looks the same whether or not an email goes out. No email is sent if that address already has an account, or if the company name cannot be used. If you already signed up, sign in instead.
2. Confirm your email
You land on a page that says Check your email. The email is called "Finish creating your JTF OS workspace". Open it and select the link.
- The link works once and expires in 30 minutes.
- Open it in the same browser you signed up in. You go straight to the next step with the password you chose.
- If it opens somewhere else (a different computer, your phone, or an email app's built-in browser), you see Choose your password. Type the password you want to sign in with, at least 12 characters. Read the Terms and the Privacy Policy, tick the box to agree, and select Create my workspace. The password you typed on the sign-up form is not carried over, and neither is the Terms tick: you agree for yourself, on this page. Your workspace is created when you continue.
- No email after a few minutes? Check spam or promotions. Check the address on the page (some letters are hidden). Wrong address? Start again.
- Trouble with the link? See Can't sign in?.
3. Set up your workspace
The link takes you to Set up your workspace. Your company name is filled in. You cannot change it here.
- Type your full name. This is the first box.
- Pick the trades you work in. Choose all that apply.
- Pick your markets: Mobile, Alabama; Gulf Coast; Southeast; or Other. Choose all that apply.
- Select Open my workspace.
You need your name, at least one trade and one market. You then land on your dashboard.
4. Finish setting up (two short steps)
Owners and admins see a bar on the dashboard: Finish setting up. It has two steps. You can skip them, but the bar stays until both are saved.
- Your company details. One screen, one save: legal name, address, phone and email, an optional license number ("Printed on your contracts. Leave blank if your state doesn't license roofers.") and an optional logo (PNG, JPEG or WebP, up to 256 KB). After you save, you see how the top of your contract will look. Every contract and quote you make carries these, and nothing else: a document cannot be made, printed or sent until they are saved. You can change them later under Settings, Company details.
- Your prices. Per-square rates for each tier. Until you save them the Quote engine asks for them instead of quoting. You can change them later under Settings, Pricing.
5. Look around
Your dashboard is the start page. The menu lists the products you can use. A good first hour:
- Add a customer. See Customers and CRM.
- Work a lead. See Leads.
- Build a quote. See Quotes.
- Fill in a contract and print it. See Documents and signatures.
Some things on the menu are not open yet. See Free or premium?.
6. Invite your team
Only an owner or admin can do this. Open Team.
- Type their email.
- Tick at least one role.
- Select Send invitation.
What to know:
- They get an email with a link that works once and lasts 7 days. They choose their own password. You never type or see it.
- They join your workspace. Accepting does not create a new workspace.
- An invitation holds one of your seats until it is accepted, revoked or expired. The Team page shows, for example, "2 of 5 seats used, 1 invite pending".
- If the email did not go out, the Team page says so. Select Resend to try again, or Revoke to cancel.
- Roles decide what each person can open. See Team.
- The free version has 5 team seats, and you are one of them. Inviting a sixth person is refused with a message.
People you invite sign in the same way you do. After they accept, they type their email and the password they chose on the main sign-in page, and they land in your workspace. If they belong to more than one workspace they pick one next. If you suspend or remove someone, they are signed out right away and cannot sign in again until you reactivate them. They can choose a new password with Forgot your password? on the sign-in page.
Coming back later
Go to the sign-in page and type your email and your password. You do not type a workspace address. If you forget the password, select Forgot your password? on the same page. See Can't sign in?.
