Questions people ask
What does "free forever" mean?
The free version has no card, no sales call and no trial that runs out. The sign-up page says "Free forever, limited usage." The limits are in the next answer.
Premium services, such as automated RoofTrue measurements and storm reports, are not part of the free version. See Free or premium?.
The Terms of Service say it in words: the free plan has no end date, it comes with limits, and we can change the limits. If a change makes the free plan smaller, we give you at least 30 days' notice. We will not charge you for anything unless you have clearly agreed to it first. The Terms and the Privacy Policy are linked at the bottom of every page.
What are the limits, and what happens when I hit one?
| What | Free limit | How it is counted |
|---|---|---|
| Team seats | 3 | Active team members and open invitations. Suspended and removed people do not use one. |
| Customer records | 1,000 | Running total of customers |
| Open jobs | 100 | Jobs not yet completed or lost, plus leads still working through your pipeline |
| Documents sent for e-sign (free trial) | 3 | For the life of the workspace |
| Quotes | 50 | Per month |
| Field Capture photo storage | 1 GiB | Running total |
| Field Capture uploads | 500 | Per day |
| Data exports | 1 | In the last hour |
These limits are switched on. The numbers may still change before launch.
At a cap: the thing you tried to add is refused, and you see a message like this one:
Quotes/estimates created limit reached (50 used; limit 50). Contact us to raise this limit.
Nothing you already have is deleted. The limit only stops new additions. Each count starts over at the time the Usage page shows for it, in your company's time zone. Finishing or losing a job frees up room under the open-jobs limit.
Two things to know about that message:
- In a browser it appears as a page with a Contact us to raise this limit button. Programs that call the product directly get the same message as data.
- No premium plan is for sale yet, so there is nothing to buy: use Contact us.
Owners and admins can open Usage to see each limit, how much you have used and when it resets.
Can I take my data with me?
Today, only a small part. On your Account page, select Download a copy of this consent record. You get a small file with your email, your company name, whether you agreed to upgrade emails, and which version of the Terms you accepted and when. It does not include your customers, jobs or quotes.
Your business records. Owners and admins open Export your data and download one ZIP file. It holds:
- spreadsheets (CSV) of customers, leads, jobs, schedule, document details, your document templates and their types, quotes and notes,
- your company details and price book (as spreadsheets), and your logo image,
- the photos and PDFs attached to customer records,
- a file called
export.jsonthat lists what is inside.
It leaves out login details, signing links and storage locations. You can run one export an hour. Very large workspaces may be refused: the ZIP is capped at about 256 MB and 50,000 rows and files.
If the export is refused because the workspace is too big, use Contact us.
How do I delete my account?
There is no Delete account button yet. Use Contact us and tell us the email address on the account.
The Privacy Policy has a table called How long we keep it. In short: a closed workspace is kept, locked, until you ask us to reopen or delete it. A deleted workspace is kept for 30 days, and during that time we can restore it if you ask. After that we may delete it permanently, and once it is gone we cannot bring it back. Please export your data first: open Settings, then Export your data.
What you can do now:
- Under Account, select Stop upgrade and add-on outreach to turn off our upgrade emails.
- On Team, suspend or remove a person to switch off their access. This does not erase their history.
Who can see my data?
Other workspaces cannot. Every record carries your workspace's label. The database itself refuses to hand a row to any other workspace, even if a mistake were made in our own code. The workspace comes from your sign-in, not from anything typed in a form. Our tests check this with two test workspaces side by side.
Your team sees what their role allows. See the table on the Team page.
We know a few things when you sign up. We get a notice with your email, your company, whether you agreed to upgrade emails, and the time. That is how we know a new workspace exists. The notice goes out when your workspace is created, before you enter your name, trade and market on the setup page, so it does not carry them. Those details are saved in your workspace.
We run the system. Like any hosted system, the people who run it can reach the database. Our Terms say when we look: our people do not open your workspace or read your data unless you turn on Support Access, or the law requires it, or it is needed to stop serious harm or a security attack.
How do I upgrade?
Today, "Contact us." Nothing can be bought inside JTF OS yet. There are no prices and no checkout.
Use the Contact link at the bottom of the JTF OS public pages. It goes to the JTF Software Solutions site. Tell us the email address on your account and what you want to add.
