Get live help from JTF support

Sometimes the quickest fix is for someone from JTF support to look at the problem with you. There are two ways. Pick the one that suits what you need.

Support Access (in JTF OS)Screen sharing (Google Chrome Remote Desktop)
What support seesYour JTF OS workspace, the way you see it, read-onlyYour whole computer screen, and can use it
Install anything?NoYes, a small Google helper app, if Google asks
Can support change anything? No. Nothing can be changed, sent, signed or downloadedYes, while you share: it is full access
Who turns it onYou, from SettingsYou, with a code that works once
How you stop itOne click on Revoke, or it ends by itselfOne click on Stop Sharing

If support only needs to look at something in your workspace, use Support Access. Use screen sharing only when the problem is on your computer itself, or when support has asked for it.

Option 1: Support Access (no install)

  1. Open Support access in your workspace menu (or go to Settings, then Support access).
  2. Choose how long: 1 hour, 24 hours or 7 days. Only an owner or an admin can do this. It is off until you do.
  3. Tell support you have turned it on.

While it is on:

  • Everyone in your workspace sees a bar at the top of every page: "JTF support can view this workspace until (time)." Anyone with a staff role (owner, admin, manager, rep, estimator, production, office) gets a Revoke button in it; everyone else is told to ask an owner or admin.
  • Support can look at your pages. Support cannot change anything, add or delete anything, send an email or text, send a document for signature, download or export your data, change your settings, or give themselves more access.
  • Every page support opens is written down, with who and when. You can read that list on the same Support access page, during and after.

To stop it, click Revoke in the bar, or Revoke now on the Support access page. It stops at once: support's view is closed on their very next click. If you do nothing, it ends by itself at the time shown.

Option 2: Share your screen with Google Chrome Remote Desktop

Use this only with a JTF support person who has contacted you, or whom you contacted. Do not give the code to anyone else.

  1. On your computer, open Google Chrome and go to remotedesktop.google.com/support.
  2. Under Get Support, click Download and follow what Google shows you to install Chrome Remote Desktop. (If it is already installed, skip this.)
  3. Under Get Support, click Generate Code.
  4. Read or send that code to the JTF support person. The code works one time.
  5. When support enters it, Google shows a box with their email address. If it is the person you expect, click Share. That gives them full access to your computer.
  6. When you are done, click Stop Sharing. You can stop at any time. While you share, Google also asks you every 30 minutes to confirm that you want to keep sharing.

Before you share:

  • Close anything private that you do not want support to see.
  • JTF support will never ask you for a password. If anyone asks, say no.
  • If the box shows an email address you do not recognise, do not click Share.

If your computer is managed by an employer or a school, their rules may not allow sharing. In that case use Option 1.
